This guide walks you through creating your Skycloak account and understanding what happens next. With our streamlined onboarding process, you’ll have authentication working in under 30 minutes.
Creating Your Account
Step 1: Sign Up
- Visit app.skycloak.io
- Click “Sign Up” or “Start Free Trial”
- Choose your preferred authentication method:
- Email and Password - Traditional signup
- GitHub - Quick signup for developers
- Google - Use your Google account
Step 2: Complete Your Profile
If using email signup, provide:
- First Name - How we’ll address you
- Last Name - Complete your profile
- Email Address - For account notifications
- Password - Minimum 8 characters, mix of letters and numbers
For social login (GitHub/Google):
- We’ll automatically populate your name and email
- You can update these later in account settings
Step 3: Accept Terms
Review and accept:
- Terms of Service
- Privacy Policy
- Data Processing Agreement (for GDPR compliance)
Email Verification
After signing up, you’ll need to verify your email address:
- Check Your Inbox - Look for “Verify your Skycloak account”
- Click Verification Link - Valid for 24 hours
- Confirmation - You’ll see a success message
Didn’t Receive the Email?
- Check spam/junk folders
- Add
[email protected]to contacts - Click “Resend Verification” in the app
- Contact [email protected] if issues persist
Understanding Your Free Trial
What’s Included
Your trial depends on the onboarding path you choose — no credit card required on either:
Realm path (default) — 21 days
- ✅ A fully managed realm on the Skycloak Shared Cluster (US region)
- ✅ Full Platform Access - All features unlocked
- ✅ Unlimited MAU - No monthly active user limits
- ✅ Email Support - Get help when needed
Expert path — 7 days
- ✅ 1 dedicated Small Cluster - Your own Keycloak instance
- ✅ Full admin console access - kcadm, Terraform, feature flags
- ✅ Plus everything above: full platform access, unlimited MAU, email support
Trial Limitations
Some features require a paid plan:
- Dedicated clusters (outside the Expert-path trial) and multiple clusters
- Custom domains
- Additional regions
- Priority support
- Extended retention
After Your Trial
When your trial ends, you can:
- Upgrade - Continue with a paid plan
- Extend - Earn extra trial days by completing actions like a feedback survey, a public review, or a sales call (up to 45 days total on the realm path, 31 days on the Expert path)
- Export - Download your configuration
- Pause - We’ll keep your data for 30 days
The Onboarding Experience
After signing up, a welcome screen offers two paths — both land on the same dashboard:
- Sign-in for my app’s users (~3 min) - Pick your framework (or “Other / Not listed” for generic OIDC credentials), get a pre-configured OIDC client and a paste-ready snippet
- I know Keycloak, give me an instance (~4 min) - Admin console via SSO, kcadm & Terraform snippets, full feature-flag control

Account Types and Permissions
Personal Accounts
- Full control of your resources
- One workspace created at signup; join others via invitations
- Invite team members
- Manage billing
Team Member Accounts
When invited to a workspace, you’ll be assigned one of these roles:
- workspace:owner: Full administrative control and ownership
- workspace:admin: Manage all resources including billing
- workspace:billing: Manage billing and subscriptions only
- cluster:admin: Create and manage assigned clusters
- cluster:viewer: Read-only access to assigned clusters
Initial Configuration
Workspace Settings
Your workspace includes:
- Unique Name: Used in URLs and identification
- Default Region: Where resources are created
- Team Settings: Member management
- Billing Info: Subscription and payment
Security Settings
We recommend enabling:
- Two-Factor Authentication - Extra account security
- Strong Password - Protect your account
- Login Notifications - Alert on new sign-ins

Common Setup Questions
Q: Can I change my email later? A: Yes, in account settings with re-verification
Q: Multiple workspaces allowed? A: Yes. You create one workspace at signup; membership in additional workspaces comes from invitations. Switch between them with the workspace switcher
Q: Can I delete my account? A: Yes, self-service in settings
Q: Is my data secure? A: Yes, encrypted and SOC 2 compliant

Upgrading Your Account
When to Upgrade
Consider upgrading when you:
- Need more than one cluster
- Want custom domains
- Require production support
- Exceed trial limits
How to Upgrade
- Verify your email address if you haven’t already - a verified email is required to subscribe
- Go to Billing in the left sidebar
- Choose your plan
- Add payment method
- Confirm upgrade
After payment, a cluster setup wizard walks you through provisioning your dedicated cluster. You then choose whether to Move your trial realm to it (keeping all users, credentials, and configuration, with the same issuer URL) or Delete it and start fresh. You can dismiss the wizard and return to it later.
